I recently obtained my MSIS from the School of Information at the University of Texas at Austin. It is my goal to combine my curiosity and previous research experience to bring critical thought and insights to the way that digital technologies impact the societies that utilize them. My past research and work experiences have informed my ability to bring creative thinking and solutions to problems that impact user's ability to access and interpret information
I hold an MA in American Studies from California State University, Fullerton. During my time there, I served as President of the American Studies Student Association where I helped plan activities to engage students outside of the classroom. Additionally, I served as a Project Director for Students Advocating for Civic Transformation where I coordinated, advertised, and led workshops related to social justice. Before serving as project director I participated in the group as a volunteer for several years and was asked to sit on the Advisory Board at the conclusion of my Project Director term. This combination of academic research and practice has informed how I have approached my experience at the School of Information and my larger professional goals.
Since coming to iSchool I have worked to expand on both my academic and professional experience by working on new types of projects related to data analytics, usability, and digital asset management. I’ve also continued to strengthen my leadership skills by taking on leadership roles and serving as a Teaching Assistant for an Engineering Communications course.
